Be it spring, summer, winter or fall-all allow, visitors a very special glimpse of a marvelous place on earth.
Serenely nestled against the backdrops of the magnificent mass of the Himalayan ranges, Nepal has been since ancient times a real oasis of tradition and religious concepts, art and architecture of its own kind, entirely blessed by the multiplicity of holy spots and shrines which are considered as the abode of gods and goddesses. Nepal is bestowed since ages by different faiths in all manner of manifestation to obtain eternal peace, happiness and heavenly joy in human life. The image of Hindu and Buddhist gods are worshiped of everyday as a way of regular life by the people of Nepal. The devotees step up in the temples and shrines usually in the fresh morning and put rice, flower and vermilion powder on the idols and circle temple clockwise ringing the bells. The pause at the foot of the god and take holy flower and red 'Tika' to put on their heads and foreheads and return home wishing something to be fulfilled with the blessings of the Almighty God.
Temples are the perfect places where the devotees gather for their prayer and meditation. Ritual formalities and easy going marriage ceremonies are also performed in the vicinity of sacred temples with the god and its spiritual priest as witness. Apart from several other gods, the god of Trinity: Brahma the creator, Vishnu the protector and Mahrshwore the destroyer occupy an important place in the country's pantheon. However, Maheshwore is generally regarded as the supreme Hindu Deity, a god both loved and feared depending on his manifestation who are called by many names: Shiva, Shankar, Pashupatinath and so on.
Pashupatinath stands on the bank of the holy Bagmati River, a tributary of Ganga where priests wearing sacred attire mingle with sadhus as well as saints and photospheres and again, where peddlers of ritual objects, flower sellers and holy cows wander freely. Many Hindus who come to die here at the point of death are cremated on the platform of the flowing river and mix their ashes and mortal remains into the water. No experience of Hindu religion is complete without a visit to Pashupatinath temple. Similarly, a visit to Lumbini is equally significant for the followers of Buddhist faith where siddhartha Gautam, who was later known as Lord Buddha after achieving enlightenment was born in 543 B.C. Historical records show that Indian Emperor Ashoka, deeply saddened with the effect of pools of bloodshed seen in the battle fields visited Lumbini and erected a large pillar on his name in 250 BC in which monument, he inscribed his faith towards Buddhism for eternal peace and happiness to be obtained.
Christianity and Islam have their own particular respect and culture heritage undisturbed in Nepal, though Hinduism and Buddhism are the two predominant faiths of the country, and such is the religious tolerance and perfect harmony that is one of the most unique aspects of Nepal’s love, friendship and cult towards human society.
